From April to July, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 5:30pm about 19 students gathered at the Meninos de Luz Community Library to attend classes with monitors from United States and England. Ex-students from Meninos de Luz who were exchange students through the seminar were also present.
The entire project happened under the leadership of coordinators who are experts in teaching of English fluency. Focusing on conversation, Edupro-Raízes Culturais has the teaching of English fluency as a main goal.
The purpose of the seminar is to select three students who will be awarded with a three-month exchange in 2014. The place is still not defined.
In 2013, the selected students were sent to Canada and Malta.
During the course, the students made several cultural tours, such as visiting Casa Daros, Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), Jardim Botânico and Hotel Fasano, where they could see the facilities and also attend to a lecture on hospitality.
With the arrival of major events such as World Cup and Olympics, it is necessary for students to develop fluency in English and to be prepared personally and professionally for higher education and labor market.
Thank you Maria Galbier, Edupro-Raízes Culturais, and all volunteers involved!
